Something that struck me right away was the packaging. The camera is displayed perfectly, making for a great gift presentation if you\u2019re buying for someone else.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>In our little 1-room cabin in New Hampshire, my wife Katie helped me unbox the camera and load the first set of film. TL;DR the unboxing experience I&#8217;d rate 2\/5. My wife is an engineer and struggled!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing Katie commented on was the camera&#8217;s design and hand feel. It&#8217;s lovely. The camera gives off a kids-camera vibe, which we think is a good thing. It\u2019s fun!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the strangest parts of the camera is while it uses a decent amount of packaging, they decided to skimp out on instructions. Instead of a user manual or a set up guide, there\u2019s a tiny little insert prompting you to visit a web page. The problem is that the web page is unnecessarily clunky. On the web site, one has to choose which camera they bought. It baffles me why Polaroid didn\u2019t just provide a camera-specific URL to visit. Another issue is the camera\u2019s name mismatches the name used on the website! The lens cap is magnetic, pops off with ease, and pops right back on exactly into place effortlessly. It really couldn&#8217;t be any better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"PolaroidSNAP Magnetic Lens Cover\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nnr7NDyx2Tc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The view finder pops up when the camera is turned on, as if it\u2019s coming alive.&nbsp;The tiny beeps give it a Wall-E vibe, yet in testing (at least when rapidly turning the camera on\/off) they aren&#8217;t consistent. Plus, the beep tone for powering the camera on\/off is the same as snapping a photo which can get confusing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"PolaroidSNAP viewfinder\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YTHe4K0yCTI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A weak point of the camera is the wrist strap. Polaroid doesn&#8217;t include any kind of tool to fish the string through the camera. But it doesn\u2019t come with any film. There\u2019s a super tiny disclosure on the packaging. I picked up a 50-pack when I ordered on Amazon for $23.99 ($0.48 per photo).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We struggled with loading the first set of paper. We read the instructions online and read the printed instructions on the film itself, both of which aren\u2019t very clear. It\u2019s been a good 15 years since I\u2019ve taken a photo with an instant camera. It came out blank, as we\u2019d expected, so I started flicking it. If you\u2019re old enough to remember the old-school Polaroids you know what I mean. Do we flick these tiny prints? A few minutes later my wife discovered that in fact, no \u2014&nbsp;you don\u2019t flick them. We\u2019d just loaded the paper wrong due to the confusing instructions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, after about 20 minutes of set up we figured it out \u2014&nbsp;our first print! The wood stove glowing at 500 degrees. The nostalgia was present. Even though we\u2019d just snapped the photo, the print we\u2019re holding feels as if it was taken years ago. We won\u2019t take the PolaroidSNAP with us hiking since handling printed photos hiking would be too much.
